Love Your Neighbor

This is our SUUBI neighbor... Nathan.
I call him by his African name... Mukiibi.

From the very beginning of this project he has helped us in one way or another.

He has always been willing to lend a hand and work hard...
even before we started giving him
a small amount of money.

He simply loves SUUBI.

And I have grown to love him.

Nathan is not a believer...
and that weighs on my heart.

My prayer is that he will come to know Jesus as Savior... soon.

Nathan and I do not communicate very well... yet!
He is determined to learn some english
and I am working on my luganda...

and some day we will have great conversations.

For now... we just laugh a lot!

We took the opportunity to serve Nathan and his family...
by purchasing some lumber and metal sheets
so that he could put a roof on his house.

"Sharing the love of Jesus in a practical way"!

His family had been without a roof for quite some time.
He was very happy with the gift!

So happy... and blessed... that when he finished the work
he wrote this message on the front of his house...
"In God... All things are possible".

Can I get an AMEN?!!

Friends, never under estimate the power
of loving your neighbor.

"This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.  Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else." 2 Cor 9:12-13

 Thanks be to God!
Glory to Him ALONE!

Please pray with me...
for our neighbor... my friend...

Pray that Nathan will come to know
Jesus as Lord, and Savior...

for there is no greater JOY!

"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers,
intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone...
This is good, and pleases God our Savior,
who wants all men to be saved
and to come to a knowledge of the truth."
1 Timothy 2:1,3

Faith, Hope and Love

An old woman lives deep in the village in a small house. Both of her daughters, and their husbands, have died leaving her to care for five children.  For the past four years, she has been scraping together whatever she can in an effort to support herself and her grandchildren.  And... she has been praying.  Praying that the Lord would send help for the children.

The children call her Jaja... grandmother. She teaches them how to work hard and how to trust in the Lord.  She believes that the Lord will send help.

About a month or so ago, Joseph, one of our administrators, went out to identify children for SUUBI that were in need of help.  After a very long day, and on the verge of exhaustion, he was ready to go home.  Looking over his list, he realized that he had more children than we had room for in the house and justified his reasoning to go home.  But, the Spirit compelled him to make the journey deep into the village, to a place he had been told were children who needed help.  There... he met Jaja and three of her five grandchildren.

Several days later, I received an email with pictures and profiles of children I was to pray over and choose to come into our SUUBI home.  Over the next couple of weeks, Gary, Mindy and I, individually prayed over these children and compiled a list of twelve children that would be the first SUUBI children.

Three, of the twelve children we chose, were Jaja's grandchildren.  At that time, we did not know they were related.

Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Jaja and her grandchildren.  When we arrived she disappeared into her small house, only to bring out a small wooden sofa, with the help of her grandson, for us to sit on.  While we were visiting with her, she told us a story.

The night before Joseph arrived at her house, to talk to her about the children, she had a dream.  She said that in her dream she saw a muzungu (white person) coming to help the children.  She said that in the dream she thought to herself, "Where will the muzungu sit?".  She decided then to bring out the sofa when the muzungu came to visit.  Today she praised God, that indeed, the muzungu came.

Once we explained what we were doing there and what SUUBI was about, she praised God for His faithfulness.  She said, "I know that God has brought you here because of all the houses that were passed in order for you to come and help us."

This is what SUUBI was created for... to restore HOPE!

I cannot put into words the overwhelming, joyous, humble, feeling of being right where God had directed me to be!  I will never forget Jaja's amazing love for her grandchildren and her steadfast faith in the Lord.

To HIM be the GLORY!!!

Do YOU want to Help?

I am crazy blessed by people wanting to be a part of this project!  Praise God for His faithfulness!  And bless you for your faithfulness in "caring for the least of these"!

I have had some questions regarding donations... which is amazingly exciting!  So, I have added a "Donate" button to this blog for anyone who wishes to donate money without buying a T-Shirt. Of course, we still need you to buy shirts!

Right now, we are very close to finishing the children's home.  Once building is complete, the next step will be to furnish the house and prepare it for the children!  We will need beds, mattresses, sheets, blankets and mosquito nets times 12 to get the house ready!  To accomplish this part will take just at $4000.00.

If you would like to be a part of making this house into a home for some very special children... please donate today!  NO amount is too small! I have seen God use the smallest donations to add up to BIG things!

I am so EXCITED!  Join us in "restoring hope and changing lives for Christ"!  You WILL BE blessed!

Children's HOME

It is so EXCITING to see the progress on the children's home! I am completely amazed and filled with joy over how the Lord has caused ALL this to come about!

He gave us a vision... He showed us the property... He brought the people together to start the project... He provided the finances to begin the building... He gave wisdom and direction and all that we have needed to accomplish this task!

He is FAITHFUL!  And so very good!

I am continually humbled... and baffled... and amazed... and thankful... that the God of the universe would allow us to be a part of this project.

The plan for Suubi is HUGE... it canNOT... WILL NOT... be accomplished apart from His grace and guidance.  We are walking by faith... not certain of the next step.  But He has faithfully shown us the way and provided what we have needed and we trust that He will continue to do so!

Gary and I will be making a trip at the end of this month to check on progress and to make plans to move forward with a guest house and the kitchen/community room.  We will also be prayerfully choosing the children that will live in this home until their forever families find them.

I humbly ask that you pray for us... for this project... for the children... for the village... as we seek to restore hope and change lives for Christ in U.ganda.

This project is HIS... may He be glorified in it!
